I bought a 9mm star 1911 and I did not know there is a difference in the ammo. I tried reg 9mm and it would not chamber. I am at a loss as to what is a good fix. Other than buying 9mm star.

Full disclosure, I don't have one. But I was sure their chambered in 9 x 19 (regular 9mm). Have you inspected it? Those are surplus and should be assumed to need a thorough inspection and cleaning before use. Disassemble, clean, inspect the bore, and get back to us.

    I've heard they're good shooters.

    Unless it's chambered in 9 x 21. Pics? I would think a 9x19 would chamber in a 9x21, but still...maybe 380?

This 1911 is a colt government model and it is a 9mm styr 1 of 800 made in Italy. The gun is fine it just needs the star ammo. I have found some on line just a little expensive. I will have to get some because there is a difference between 9mm and 9m stytr.

9mm Styr is 9x23. Is it the same as the 38 Super?

    ^^ This ^^

My dad brought one back from WW II. It was rough by the time I took possession of it. Mark Highsmith (Highsmith Firearms, Greenfield) cleaned it up for me and found some ammo. It was something to shoot, with the barrel rotted out, impressive it was not. I wish I still had it.
