Did the controls and frame the same color. I like it. Spouse picked out the grips and yes she dresses me for special occasions.

Posting this one to get some more info on it. It’s a pawn shop Springfield. The box is marked PX9130L. 3 dot white sights, ambi safety, a reasonably good trigger, and I’d think it’s supposed to have Springfield cocobolo grips. The polish on it beats the daylights out of my stainless Colt Competition. Anyone know anything about these?

Springfield Loaded 9mm discontinued around 2005-2006. I think people had problems with the mags when they came out...beautiful SS though, was sold with the SA wood gripsn and I think they still produce it just under a different sku#/model name/etc

Good info thank you! I have a set of Altamonts ordered that should dress it up nicely.

I have black g10 aggressive starburst Wilson grips for this S&W but I might just put em on something else because I also like the look of wood on SS.

I continue to go back-and-forth on the color of the plunger tube on two-tone 1911's. Should it match the frame of the controls? I decided it should match the frame for my first build, but I really like the way yours looks with the tube that matches the thumb safety and slide release.

Also, do you like the extended thumb safety?

My 9mm RIA 1911. I wanted a something classic without the price and without having to stock another caliber.

This fits the bill nicely, change the grips and the mainspring housing out and voilà!

Thanks and yes I agree I too like the contrast of the black controls on SS.

I feel like the way that I draw, grip and fire is compatible with either extended or "standard" size thumb safety. The only kind of thumb safety I don't really like is ambi...give me a plain ol left side/right thumb safety and I'm good.

(and I've also decided I probably won't change out the wood grips on the E series, I just personally like them more...the g10 WCs will just have to go on a different one)
