All that being said, why not drop a few extra and get an entry level 1911 in .45 and then also get the .22 conversion barrel and magazine?

I have A Kimber Super Carry Pro in 45. I bought the 22 conv kit and its really work out great.
I have a Chiappa, and there is one good thing about them. If you ever wanted to be a gun smith, you will get plenty of experience owning a Chiappa.
