Hey INGO - Recently picked up a 9mm 1911. Bought an extra mag ($20 Rock Island Armory mag) and it wont even seat, so I'm going to return it.

For those of you with 9mm 1911's, what mags work best? And just as important, what mags DON'T work for you?

    Thanks!

I have a Springfield 1911 in 9mm. Pay once and cry once and get some Wilson Combat mags. 500-9 IIRC. I bought 4 of them and have had no problems with them with over 500 rounds through the gun. I also run Wilson 47D's in my 1911 .45ACP. I have no experience with others like Chip, but I'm sure they are good too. -Jason

10 round mags can be tricky. The 10th round wants to nosedive. The new Wilson mags work with 10 rounds. The older ETMs were just easy to seat 9 rounders.

Wilson ETM and Metalform 10 rounders work fine in my RIA Tactical, I've logged just over 3,000 rounds on it with the last 1,050 without cleaning and no malfs attributed to these mags (slide stop and extractor are another story). The 9rnd metalform that came with my RIA Tactical 9mm is fine as well.

The recently deceased ToddG of Pistol-Training ran a 9mm for 50,000+ rounds and filed many reports on his experiences with the gun and the mags. pistol-training.com » Blog Archive » Springfield/Warren 9mm 1911 50k Report You'd do well to pay attention to what he wrote.

I had problems with my 10 round 9mm Tripp Research Cobra Mags. They failed to drop freely from the gun when doing mag changes. I called Tripp Research and was told by Aaron and Virgil to buy Daswon Precision 10 round 9mm mags. I bought the Dawson Precision 10 round 9mm mags and never had a problem with them.

I have been very happy with the Metalform 10 round magazines, the ones with the spacer bar welded to the back of the insides. I have a full size Springfield.
