1911s and XD's for sure. I don't see a lot of 320s at matches except the x5 and yes it has a lot of problems but I sorta figures that is because everyone tinkers with them.Back when I shot matches regularly the 320's choked a lot.
I would say the top guns I witnessed failing were.
1911's - A lot of malfunctions.
XD - Didn't see them at the matches often, but when they were there was a good chance it would not finish the match.
P320- A lot of malfunctions.
That said you don't ever really know what someone has done to their pistols or what mags they run. When you need 5 or 6 mags you see people start buying the cheap stuff.
I also shot for years with a CZ75 and I've heard a lot of people talk about them failing and mine has been boringly reliable.
I should clarify that most of the ones I saw were the early ones. I haven't been able to shoot many matches since 2019 so it would have been before that.1911s and XD's for sure. The highlighted part was not my experience. There were some higher end for sure, but for every one of them there were probably 5 on the more lower end. Lots of Springfield, RIA, Ruger, Taurus, Sig.Most of the 1911s people bring to these matches are the ones with crazy tight tolerances, that a little grime will gum up.
I have an ATI GI I got for $400 bucks.. yeah its got a bit of slide rattle, but I have shot the hell out of the thing and it feeds any 230 hardball like you wouldn't believe. And the trigger on it, is pretty freakin decent.. I use nothing but USGI 7 round mags on the sucker.
That said, that is one thing about the Beretta pistols as well, the things just freakin work..
Well I have seen lots of all of those fail, and none of them were the "Base Model".. they were always some model that maker tarted up a bit, using some sort of dodgy extra capacity mag. Or its the shortened slide model, which introduces issues. The highlighted part was not my experience. There were some higher end for sure, but for every one of them there were probably 5 on the more lower end. Lots of Springfield, RIA, Ruger, Taurus, Sig.
