So, I picked up my first Ruger 10/22 last weekend. Has the 10-round factory mag with it. Who makes QUALITY magazines for these? Thought I'd get some additional 10-round rotary mags, and maybe some higher capacity ones as well.
I use Butler creek steel lip and non-steel lip 25 rounders. They are just as reliable as my Ruger BX-25 mags. Ruger and Butler Creek are the only mags I have lots of experience with. They are both GTG for me since 1995.
I've tried the 10, 15, 25, and 50 rounders (the 50s's are a pair of 25's molded together but one 25 section is mounted upside down from the other). All work very well. I'd stay away from any aftermarket mags with the 10/22 but that's just me.
In another thread someone mentioned that Ruger doesn't actual make the BX-25 mags, but they are farmed out to another company and they can be hit or miss.
I had always heard they were the best option for a larger cap 10/22 mag, but I personally don't have much experience with them. I generally just use the standard 10 rd box mag.
Well.... thanks to INGO, a member is hooking me up with some gently used Ruger and and Butler Creek 25-round mags.
This is my first magazine fed long gun. Everything else is tube fed or single-shot. Makes me want to have a bunch of spares for some reason.... Now I'll start watching for some 10-round rotary mags.
