At some point in time I'd like to do a 10/22 build. For those who've done a lot of 10/22 customizing, once you've figured out the purpose (i.e. super accurate, cheap practice gun, etc.) do you usually figure out what you want before you purchase anything, or just buy stuff as you go?

I usually have the specifics all planned out before I buy anything.

Well, if it's anything like my Saiga conversion, you'll throw out design and build as you go - but only after you buy a bunch of parts.

I've got a drawer full of Beryl parts waiting for the next rifle.

I think it would depend on how much of the 10/22 you are leaving stock. For this I'm thinking about target model bull barrel, etc.

Get an idea of what you like, maybe a picture of something similar and start building. Everyone, did I say EVERYONE, has an opinion of what is best.
