SCOTUS recently decided that a person can be locked up for 7+ years without it being a violation of the 6th Amendment guarantee of speedy public trials. All a state has to do is claim it doesn't have the money to give you a trial and they can apparently get away with this indefinitely.

An Indiana man was jailed for two years with no trial, no lawyer and no proof that he committed a crime. Needless to say he's going to sue the pants off the cops and investigators. Hope he gets the millions he deserves and some people lose their jobs forever. Jail time would be appropriate, too...
