Feel the guns locally and then make a purchase online. There a few good deals out there to be had.

I like the Champions a lot. In fact, I have one park and one in SS. Excellent shooters.
I think they make great carry guns, so much, that it is the gun I carry (usually the SS because this one has the night sights.)

I do! I would never take any one person's word for a load. I did that once - from the Lee manual. It was a hot load.
I wouldn't consider loading unless I have at least two reliable sources.

Right now I compete (USPSA / IDPA) and have been using factory ammo but this year I will be using my reloads, so the loads need to reliable and somewhat accurate.

Lee is a pretty informative one. I also have Lyman and then a few powder reference guides.
Try a few of the online stores. Grafs, midway, lock, stock and barrel, etc. Some these stores have decent price on the manuals.
Also, online references by the powder manufactures cna be of assistance...
