A lot of us old farts fall back to our military training. I was, am and will be a 1911 guy.
Never trusted a striker, always liked to know where the hammer was at all times.
Because of this I like the Taurus 92 as it has a 'cocked and locked' option not just a decocker like the Beretta.
As 9mm...
You ain't just a woof'n! We can't rely on any incumbent senator or representative to grow a pair and step up to the plate. Their interest is to, "I gotta do for me and mine..."
I have and use over 100 of them. I make it a practice to never put an uncleaned weapon in one and have never had any issue with their use. Back in the day I would buy them by the 6-pack...
When I got it even the scope rings had rust. Counting the new Sig scope I am into it for just under $500 and all I need is a mag and it is busting Bambi.

The last guy they had a Remington to "tweek" them as seen on this video retired and no one took his place. It was evident when the quality dropped and you didn't know if the first shot would swing...
Well, I have my son-in-law covered for Christmas. This is a Remington Model Four, not "4". They we made in the '80's and I found this one covered in rust. It took a little effort but the outcome is a very affordable semi-auto .30-06.
It had a Redfield scope on it but I changed to a Sig 3x9x40...
These are considered good to shoot other than they have a history of loosing the extractors. I personally haven't seen this happen but enough shooting buddies describe it that I would consider "common".
This isn't catastrophic, it harmlessly flies over your head, but replacing it with a GI part...
