Latest .22 news from the CMP

Does anyone have sales data for a useful amount of time? Is there less .22LR in stores because they're getting the same amount they were "back when" and it's selling faster? Or are they getting less and selling it as fast as they get it? We could probably speculate about reasons and nefarious...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

My notes say that lot #19 was an FN (model 7?) in 308 Win Mag that brought $2150. Sorry, I'm not familiar enough with the FN line to say for sure, but that model number looks fishy to me.

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

My notes say $525. (I should scan my notes and find someplace to post them. There are holes, but I got _most_ of the selling prices. I bet others could help fill in the ones I missed.)

      Who's here at Earl's Auction?

The lowest serial number H&R Garand I see on my sheet is lot #38 (SN468xxxx). I think it went for $1000. (My notes are a little unclear there.) I thought one of the other H&R Garands (lot #50) had the best looking wood of the bunch...it brought $1300. The National Match Garand was lot #121 and...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

I remember seeing the Luger sell...but I _don't_ remember what time. I think it was late enough that people were getting confused, though. My notes make me think it closed at $2250 originally, but then was reopened and backed down to $2100 after some confusion about what the last few bids...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

That's the same price I have in my notes, but lot #112 was an IBM M1 _Carbine_, right? (I was kinda sticking around hoping that would go late enough that it might become a steal...but it wasn't quite that.) Lot #138 was mismarked as an "FN M1 Garand" in the catalog, but was actually an IHC...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

Maybe not as useful after the fact as before, but... I saw no such signs. I did see a few people printing and "adjusting" in ways that if the auction house was looking to harass someone about it, they could have. At one point early on, the auctioneer announced that anyone carrying was expected...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

I think my favorite "WTF?!" of the day was late, when Earl brought back in lot #124, an FN49 that sold for $800 originally but the buyer was denied by the ATF check...and it sold for $850 the second time. (Yes, there are plenty of reasons for that to be true...but it was still amusing...at least...

Who's going to one of the nicest gun auctions ever?

My notes say "$900". I think I was pretty lucid at that point. I must admit, though, that by the end, my notes got worse and worse. In all, I think it was a great experience. It was neat to see the Johnsons. It was fun to marvel at the sheer amount of ammunition. I wasn't looking for there to...

      H&R

I grew up with a matched set of H&R shotguns, 12, 20 & .410. They all shot well and carried nice. Took a lot of fox squirrel, a few birds, a rabbit or two, and dispatched occasional snakes around the campsite. Shot some stillboard with the 12 on occasion. Had an argument with the 12 one day...
