      Deer hunting rounds....

A Michigan hunter here... we had a similar firearm rule change a couple years back. I put together a 450 on a Remington action last year. I wanted something that matched the weight and balance of my competition rifle and ended up going with a 22" M24/M40 contour barrel. Factory ammo ends up...

      Precision/Sniper Rifle Show and Tell

For the 2015 season I had Apache Gun Works chamber and threaded a 6.5 Creedmoor X-caliber barrel for my shooting season this year. I installed this on my Stiller Tac-30 AW action and bedded it into the manners stock. The DBM is also Stiller and I am using a Vortex Gen II 3-18x50 with milrad...

How many of you just dont care about 300blk?

Yes, I agree. The only thing I see in it is it offers the ability to run subsonics in a AR efficiently, but then if that was my "thing" I would want to be running flatnosed lead bullets or massive broad cavity hollow points to do something once it hits... not sure how reliable feeding would be...

      New Long Range Caliber?

I started with a 308, tried a factory Remington varmint 243 and that made me wonder why I still used a 308... Then I went to a couple custom 260's... Love the 260 and still enjoy the challenge of the 308. Truth is with anything long range, you are going to want to load your own ammo. Yes you can...

      Medium range deer rifle

I will second a Contender or Encore... I have used a 357 and 44 mag on the contender to take deer configered as a pistol and use a 20" muzzleloader on my Encore to do the same. Match grade Machine Custom Thompson Center Encore, Contender, G2 barrels, and Pro Hunter - MGM makes custom barrels and...

Home build, Stiller AW action & AAC 260 barrel

Thanks Doc! I was in S.E. Montana and took the shot from275ish yards kneeling. All that growing on hill sides in the background is sageand is about knee to mid thigh high so when they lay down all you see is earsand horns, if you see them... The rut was kicking in and this buck had gathered5 doe...

Home build, Stiller AW action & AAC 260 barrel

My 5x5 with about 30 minutes remaining before dark. This guy was so tired chasing 5 doe he kept laying down every time I’d get a good position on him. After about an hour and a half I finely sent a 139 lapua scenar his way.

No kidding on everything you said, think I would want the 18" though.

Starting to get back into shooting, looking for adivce on ar10s

I was teamed up with a guy at a long distance steel plate match who was shooting this LR-308 it was a first match for both of us and we both finished near the middle of the pack. During train up he was hitting 5" plates at 500 yards with ease once he got the wind hold down... and get this, he...

Home build, Stiller AW action & AAC 260 barrel

Earlier this year I came across a deal I could not pass up while window shopping on midway. They were selling off their inventory of AAC 260 barrels at half off. These barrelsare pre threaded on both ends and chambered. The idea is to allow DIY’ers the ability to swap barrels on their Remington...

      1000 YD Savage .308 build

I have both a 223 and 308 R700 tactical. Both have been to the 1000 yard line often...the 308 more, as the bullets I need for the 223 have been unavailable for the last 6 months. In both cases getting to 1000 is the easy part. Reading the wind is the challenge. The 308 gets to 800 well, the...

      Precision/Sniper Rifle Show and Tell

My summer project has been self assembling a StillerTac30 A/W action with a AAC pre-chambered 260 barrel and bedding it into a Manners T4. For the past few months I have been searching for a loadand I finely got this thing to shoot... consistently well! The solution was to forget about my good...

      1000 YD Savage .308 build

I agree, DNZ game reaper makes a nice 20moa that I use on a few of my remingtons. I believe they make savage mounts as well. It weights less than a pair of steel rings and none of them have every come loose. Good quality product IMO.

      1000 YD Savage .308 build

That rifle will get you to 1k, no problem. I do it with a 20" Remington tactical at young’s often. My only concern with the model you are looking at is the bolt knob, for me, it would compromise my trigger press so I'd be sure to look at one and do some dry firing if you can before ordering...

      Stock VS Chassis

I have a couple AICS and a McCree chassis as well as many stocks from both Manners and McMillan. My biggest complaint when it comes to chassis stocks is weight. Most of them are heavier than a standard prone/tactical stock like the T4's, A5 and A3's that I have. Another dislike is metal gets...
