From the first read I thought "Wait, this isn't about Gun Control - this is a grab for money." The nuisance angle is just the ruse while they put their hand in someone's pocket.
Storing the toxic waste from NY isn't a nuisance, 'cause someone's getting paid. Vagrants pooping in the alley...
So, If NJ doesn't walk away from this, their argument is that nothing in Federal Law permits any interference with State laws?
Maybe I hope they win. (?) Manufacturers and wholesalers, incl. ammunition, can cut them off - including their LE departments (wouldn't want a gun/cartridge...
I too am suprised he has someone on his staff that can at least articulate a response for him to cut-n-paste... unless this is a template sent down from the master. 'Template_for_D_in_unconquered_states_RE_pistol_brace.txt'
Well Crap!!! I knew I must be missing something.
That's what I get for believing the Internet. :tantrum:
If you're right, thanks for the correction!
I agree with everything you're saying.
I was specifically referring to the Congressional Review Act I first saw mentioned back in post #122 (?), and then heard politicians blabing about it. If I understand it, the House - without the Senate - can simply review and agency's rule and reject...
"Banning these braces because they were 'an accessory used in a mass shooting', is like outlawing air fresheners because some drunk drivers had them on their mirror. It's just STUPID." should be a Sen. Kennedy quote
I still firmly believe that the Best way to deal wit this is in the Legislative rather than Judicial branch. The problem originated in the legislative branch, it should get solved there too.
The Judicial solutions that narrowly address this, will be complex at best, favor the ATF at worst...
Didn't they make studded tires illegal in IN? Something about them tearing up the asphalt. Now the roads tear up your tires.
That's what I recall, but it was a long time ago.
I remember being ordered to use tire chains at times when I was stationed in Korea. We called them 'Vehicle Ice Skates'.
Good for fresh snow in the mountains. Horrible when you hit the bottom of the hill and pulled onto an icy paved road. Got lots of pictures of vehicles down in rice...
I could not agree more.
And to the topic of the thread: THIS is why distance, obstacles, and as many rounds as I can stuff in the mag, make sense!
Fortunately, I've never had to face such a person (or a group of them) off the mat or in the street, and don't think it's likely I will around...
I'm not an "expert' by any stretch, but have some background. It's not really that much different than taking firearm focused self defense seriously. Sure, physical attributes like speed and coordination are an important component - but they are with a handgun as well.
If you're serious...
^^^ What he said.
Now, if it's a "MFer to defend against without shooting", and your attacker has a dry tree branch in his hand, what does that tell you?
The biggest difference I think, is mindset. With a gun, most think "shoot to kill". With a blade, it's better to think "neutralize the...
Great point!
I'm guessing this doesn't apply to an LE officer on duty, but for the rest of us - particularly those who know how to use old technology - a knife may have been preferable in the situation of the video. For some, having a pistol in the right hand would have been a distraction and...
Now that was an interesting observation that got me curious. I never would have made the connection between old school and a P365.
However, I think I'm in that demographic. My 'go-to' handgun for 30 years was the Browning Hi-Power. I checked out a P365 as a curiosity, and now I've got 3 of...
