That's the thing with cowboy, the alias. Lots of times I've had people ask me if I know someone that shoots cowboy and they give me their name. I ask for an alias because most of the shooters, I don't know their real name.
As a side note, I thought it was funny in Sam Peckinpah's film "Pat...
He is correct. That's how marvin02 and I met. If you go to certain matches or ranges often, it's like going to shoot with old friends. Lots of nice folks out there.
You have the gear. Borrow a shotgun if you need to. My 1st cowboy match, 26 years ago, I could only find one Vaquero and a Marlin Cowboy lever action rifle before I started shooting cowboy. I borrowed a 2nd revolver and a shotgun. Shooters are the best group of people, especially the cowboys...
During pistol week, the vendors are great too. The airgun range is worth the trip. Rent air pistols and/or rifles and shoot for cheap. Lots of scenarios to choose from.
I couldn't make it to Atterbury last year; I tested + for covid the day before I was to head down there. We did go to Perry...
I haven't seen this posted. Anyone do any competition shooting? Let us know what you like to shoot. If you want to but never have, let us know that too. Maybe you can get some ideas and/or encouragement. Here's what I like to shoot.

I don't know if you have different 9mm loads, but I use my nickel plated 38 special brass for a specific load. The nickel lets me differentiate them from another load that uses the same bullet. I do something similar with 12 gauge hulls. Different color AA hulls for different loads; 1oz, 1 1/8...
Several people seem to think that since someone (maybe more than one) else "checked" the gun, the one holding and working the gun does not need to check the gun also.
Let me pose this question. If you are at a gun shop and ask to see any gun behind the counter. The staff member gets the gun...
This was only mentioned once or twice, but an heirloom is more of a gun that grandpa had and used, maybe took them hunting or target shooting with. It has a more personal meaning. Not a new 10/22, AR, or plastic pistol. I have two guns that were made the year my wife and I were born, 1956. One...
The LGS I frequent also has a shooting range. That is something you cannot get online. I have been running their pistol league for several years and get along great with the workers in the shop. There has been a big turn around in staff in the last year or so, so I do not know some of these guys...
I have 3 MEC loaders for shotgun, 12 & 28 gauges. They work fine. I do not know anyone that loads shotgun on a Hornady. I do load metallic cartridges (25 different cartridges) on a Hornady LNL AP. I like that press and prefer it to Dillon.
That size should be fine. The bullet depends on the purpose of the load. For hunting 250 thru 300+ grains would most likely be best. For range use and plinking, lighter loads are all that is really needed. No sense in punishing yourself. There is a pamphlet from Hodgdon out on the web (PDF for...
I use a lot of 200gr RNFP lead bullets for cowboy action. Lighter loads were better since my wife also shoots the same guns/loads. Guns are original version Ruger Vaqueros.
My dad bought a SCCY years ago and it had feeding issues. I polished the feed ramp, but he never had a chance to see if that fixed it. This was their 1st generation of pistols, so they may have gotten better. I thought my Kel-Tec P11 was much better.
As others mentioned above, check out the...
