      wild boar hunting, where?

Looking back, we may have just had a misunderstanding. We got in the night before and everyone had gone home for the day, that morning we were told this kid was going to be our guide. So we assumed he was going to take us out, not just point us in a direction. We didn't realize he was...

      wild boar hunting, where?

My experience is basically the same as Vert's. I don't remember who our "guide" was, but were put off the first morning there when my friend was asking about a Black Buck antelope and he said he could take us out after lunch. Than basically pointed us towards the gate and said hogs and...

      wild boar hunting, where?

I will say the boar I shot in TN was a big boy and it tasted fine. But, it wasn't exactly wild either. They were bred and raised for that purpose.

      wild boar hunting, where?

Your trip will be fine, but don't be surprised when you find you aren't the only ones there or the rooms aren't as nice as the pictures on the website. It's there business, they have people coming and going all the time. There were probably 20 or so other people there when we were there last...

      wild boar hunting, where?

If I weren't after a trophy or the meat, I'd probably go to one of the southern states and do a night hunt with thermal. The hogs are going to be true wild hogs, probably smaller, but you may see some big ones, limit will depend on your outfitter. If you plan to eat it, I'd look at one of the...

      wild boar hunting, where?

A lot of good points are made here. Are you looking for a trophy, something you plan to eat, or just an eradication type hunt?

      Hog hunting advice

It did a good job. Put it right in the vitals, hog reared up on it's back legs, fell over, and kicked its legs for about 5 seconds. I have no idea on the weight, but he was good sized. I just got it back from the taxidermist, with a little artistic embellishment.

      Hog hunting advice

A buddy and I went to Wilderness Hunting lodge last spring. We really wanted to go on a hog hunting trip, looked around, and it was closer than Texas and really not anymore expensive. As mentioned above it was a high fenced place with the hogs in an 800 area. I don't know what kind wild hog...

Ruger Ranch rifle 450 bushmaster scope recommendations

I have a Vortex Diamondback 3.5-10X50 BDC on my 450BM AR and have been happy with it. Depending on the area you are hunting in a 2-7 may more appropriate.

      Shopping List?

Maybe not a winter shopping list, but something I'd like to get in the next year or two is a 6.5 Creedmoor and 6" revolver in 357 or 44mag. Not sure which yet I already have a snob nose 357 so I have ammo for it, but a 44 would be more versatile for hunting. Also thinking about a crossbow.

Leupold 3x9 vx-r patrol scope rocks

I've been thinking about getting a 3-9 or 4-12 VX-R for a 308. Who has the best prices? Is upgrading to the x50 worth the exrta money when compared to the x40?
