I believe it is just a something unique to each deer and not an age related issue. I believe that unique characteristics such as colors and antler shapes and so on can be seen in a local herd. A area I hunt has produced several bucks over the years with main beams that curve back around so that...
3 of my last 4 Hoosier bucks I have killed between 11AM and 1PM and I am convinced that other hunters leaving or moving around are the reason for the opportunities.
Not much of a story really. Firearms opener here in Indiana and I was in a stand with my new rifle chambered for the .358 Hoosier. I have been looking forward to building and hunting with this Indiana legal CF rifle for a very long time and finally, today it was game on!
The morning was...
No absolutes in hunting and without seeing your area it is really difficult to advise. I personally do not do much "blind" calling. Sometimes I will try rattling without knowing a buck is around but I do not generally use a grunt, snot-wheeze or can call without first knowing a deer is there...

You are never going to fool a Deer's nose so the number one priority is to play the wind. Always try to be downwind of where you think the deer will be coming from. If they are upwind of you they will not smell you.
I have done all sorts of scent control over the years and here is what I...
Unfortunately I am not local to you or I would gladly help you out.
Most likely military brass will not work as it is too thick. Winchester brand commercial 308 or 358 brass is what most everyone is using with success but some of the newer production runs of Winchester is too thick as well. I...
Congrats!
Since your photo is in a backyard with mountains in the background I take it you have a local connection out there?
Nice bucks especially if you were on a general unit and not limited entry. Looking forward to more details...
I have been using a 380 carbide die to neck size my fire-formed cases. Neck tension is slightly less than when I use the Hoosier die when seating bullets.
Trim down some .308 commercial brass to just under 1.8", run through the 358 Hoosier sizing die, trim again to just under 1.8" and wallah, 358 Hoosier brass! That's how I do it anyway.
Not sure if he can do wooden arrows but call Mark at Dead End Archery, (765) 798-3667. He is out in Hillsboro. I do know that he left out for a few days the end of Sept for a Antelope hunt but think he should be back by now.
I purchased a LEM grinder about 6 yrs ago and so far it has performed flawlessly. All stainless construction. At the time, Basspro had the best price on them.
