Maybe somebody dumped the gun out of a moving vehicle further up the road? I've been to Lakewood, WA, before and I remember some of the highways between it and Seattle having wooded mountains along the side, maybe somebody could have thrown it/dropped it from there as well. That's just me...
Wish this would get more press than it has/likely will, but most of the media has a certain agenda to push, and unfortunately the many cases of firearms used in self defense don't seem to mesh with that agenda
Well said. Maybe someday they will realize that pointing fingers has never been an effective crime reduction strategy, but I won't be holding my breath.
Generally positive on glocks but no strong feelings either way. I have a 19 that I found surprisingly fun to shoot after only ever hearing how boring they were. Hope that's not too much of a problem:rolleyes:
Currently reading Katanga 1960-63 by Christopher Othen and Days of Rage by Bryan Burrough.
Katanga is about the nation that broke away from the newly-independent Republic of Congo (now Democratic Republic of Congo) in the early 60s. Involves a lot of Warren Zevon-esque, African mercenary stuff...
I'm always looking for new stuff to read so I would definitely be interested. I found this thread which had a lot of good book suggestions although it wasn't necessarily a "What are you reading" thread.

I thought it was a pretty entertaining and interesting film. I didn't like it as much as Saving Private Ryan or Black Hawk Down, but it was way better than American Sniper IMO. That's a really cool story indiucky. I hope you end up getting to display it, that would be a really interesting piece...
Living within the sphere of influence of the Chicago media, I hear the "Indiana gun laws are causing Chicago's crime problem," argument all the time and it is infuriating. If Indiana's gun laws are so horribly lax, why do we not see the same levels of crime here that Chicago has? It would seem...
Thanks for the info Thor. I'll have to check out the Inlands, its good to know there are decent new production M1 Carbines since the supply of original ones has become so depleted. I'm currently waiting on a Garand from the CMP, so once it arrives and my wallet recovers it may be time to get an...
Glad nobody got hurt, definitely a good reminder for prioritizing the firearms safety rules. All too often people scoff at them for being so obvious, but it only takes one screwup, and even experts like Ayoob can screwup apparently
I've seen these around before but I never realized they took AR mags, that's pretty cool on a bolt action. Let us know how it shoots, I may have to get something else to use some of these STANAG mags on lol
Does anyone have experience with any new manufactured M1 carbines? I don't have any firsthand experience with them and haven't heard much good about them online.
All the permethrin recommendations are great. My personal experience has been that I've successfully avoided tick bites (so far, knock on wood) since I began using the stuff.
I'd like to also endorse carrying a small mirror while out in the woods for conducting regular tick-checks on places...
