As I said, I don't do the 5.7 battle thing anymore. This is the most action I've seen in over 6 months. Yes, a heated thread can be VERY time consuming. I've burnt up whole evenings trying to keep up in a hot discussion. That's the reason for the copy/paste. Most of the misinformed comments are...
If you wanna read through a very classic but typical 5.7 debate thread, here you go. I don't have the time or motivation to pull off one of these anymore... those days are long gone.. lol
So what's the general consensus on the FN Five-seveN? - THR
The 5.7x28mm is an extremely polarizing...
Actually, FN factory ammo was about the only ammo you could find when we had the huge ammo shortage a few years ago. Some people speculate it is because FN has total control of their production and are not a U.S. company and thus aren't influenced by local politics. I don't know the veracity of...
That "rant", as you call it, wasn't even mine. I have said similar things, but those words aren't even mine.. they are DmL5's. He is the supreme master of all things 5.7 and I have learned a lot from him.
Now, to clear things up.. I have absolutely no financial interest in FN, EA, or any other...
Yep, it's real all right.
Go here:

Under "search TV segments", select FNH USA. Then watch both segments on the Five-seveN.
Enjoy!
Speaking of big booms.. the Five-seveN is as loud as "full-house" 10mm. It literally will turn heads at the gun range. The fireball is impressive as well.
Cabelas and Cheaperthandirt has it for a reasonable price most of the time. I just bought a pile of SS195 from CTD for around 21.50 a box of 50. Last year you could get SS197 for around 18.00 a box.
FN isn't a publicly traded company so one cannot "buy stock in it".
I used to enjoy the lengthy debates because they were so easy to win; the facts were "on my side". I don't really enjoy them that much anymore, but I will still drop a thread bomb from time to time when I see an egregious...
Nothing is a "proven stopper" (which I guess in this context means: will drop a man regardless of shot placement) save for the very high-powered rifle rounds. All pistol rounds have failed to stop an attack at one time or another and it didn't have to do with caliber.
A self-defensive pistol...
I feel the same way. Everybody has their favorite pet caliber. I own many, I just prefer the Five-seveN pistol for concealed carry. I haven't taken part in a big argument over it in a long time. I was just Googling some Five-seven stuff and this thread popped up with Mr. "full-auto", going...
Of course it is a cut-n-paste. Do you know how many of these discussions I have been in? They always go the same way. You certainly haven't confirmed my identity. Why would I be gone soon? I may just hang around for a while if you or others are willing to learn and have open minds.
It is true I have contributed to several forums on this subject, but I am not the only one that does it. I also haven't contributed to a forum in this manner since back in 2011 if I remember correctly.
I have found that my contributions are welcomed by those generally interested in learning...
My thoughts are you are regurgitating internet hearsay. Please provide a link to a departmental statement or news report of a 5.7mm weapon being "dumped" by an agency.
I have a couple verifiable reports of the earliest agencies that adopted the 5.7 and their comments on it...
His full title is Dr. Gary K. Roberts, DDS (note that he is a dentist, not a trauma surgeon). I am not aware of any credible independent source online that clearly acknowledges DocGKR as an authority on the subject of wound ballistics, let alone gunshot wounds in actual human bodies.
He...
Are the following your words?
That sounds like a broad generalization to me.
I never said I have detailed accounts from trauma surgeons regarding VMAX 5.7 ammo. I said, "To make a broad generalization that the 5.7 platform isn't practical for self-defense indicates that you are...
Incorrect. SS190 is readily available on the secondary market albeit at a stiff markup price. It is NOT illegal for civilians to purchase, own, and shoot SS190. There is no reason to purchase it though as EA's rounds outperform SS190 greatly.
Incorrect. Numerous videos are available...
Actually, nearly all who were shot in vital regions of their body died. All who rushed him were killed or severely incapacitated. Interestingly, Hasan was shot 5 times in the back with 9mm and never came close to dying. Officer Munley, who was shot twice (both leg shots) suffered a shattered...
