If you are looking for something to do this weekend the IN MVPA is hosting their annual rally in Portland on Friday and Sat.
Here is a link to their website if you would like more information.

I was up at Camp Perry 3 weeks ago and the shelves were empty. Some guys have success putting a yellow sticky note on their order form and requesting a certain type. It may take longer but there customer service is very good and most guys seem to eventually get what they are looking for. They...
This is for the most guns in the smallest area in the now closed gun shops category.
Ludco Gunshop in Parker had a heck of a selection. The day I was in there long rifles were stacked 3 and 4 deep along the walls and pistols were hanging on wires from the ceiling. I don't know if you could...
I want to say 4.5 hours no matter which way you go.
we usually go I-70 to I-75 then take OH 105 East (Bowling Green exit) through the country to get to Port Clinton. On the way back we take I-75 to US 30 to Van Wert and Decatur, IN then to i-69 to mix it up. It is a pretty boring drive.
You...
This is a great suggestion to see what is available at the store. When I was there last month we got there around noon and there were only 5 service grades left. I found a 1944 receiver in nice wood.
The Service grade is a great value but with that being said I found a rack grade H&R with a...
I went for 2 things and didn't find either item anywhere. Both items are pretty obscure so not really too surprised to leave empty handed.
I got there at 7:50 and think I finally got to the door about 8:05. I left around 10 and it was pretty crowded. It wasn't as crowded as I have seen the...
I picked a rifle out for someone last month, (their paperwork and shipped to them) and I believe the total cost was $649.95. I think it would have cost about $10 more for me to bring it back with me.
This one had the discoloration and also you could see where the machining was different in the op rod channel and on the inside of the receiver behind the clip latch. I have seen other welded receivers and this one was pretty bad. It looked like it had been in a fire.
Would you happen to...
Make sure you check the drawing numbers on the receiver's front leg with the mfg serial number. I saw a IHC rifle here (last Fall) in the Indy area where the back half of the receiver was IHC and the front end was Springfield, (welded receiver).
If this has matching parts probably a...
That is a great looking rifle. You did well on getting that. I was up at Camp Perry last fall and there were a lot of the new birch stocks and slim pickings on nice GI wood. Going up there is a lot of fun but I have done well with mail order too. Not as nice as that one though!
I would...
There is one in the War Memorial Museum downtown Indy in the WW1 rifle case. I glanced at it and thought it was a 9130 but it had a sticker above it saying it was a Remington. Somewhere I have a photo I will post if I can find it.
That is a great find. Do you know (roughly) how much he...
This is an interesting website.
Ported Gas Plug
Then a pretty long article where they measured gas pressures.
Shooting Commercial Ammunition in your M1 Garand
I was just offering it up as something else to try if you get the chance. Like I said it is a blast to do too.
I had a K98 trigger guard that I was going to toss out and ended up saving it. I will have to see if I can find some before and after photos of it.
It didn't seem to remove any of the blueing, just the surface corrosion. I tried it on some less important parts first. I had read that it did on other forums if you leave it in too long but I didn't see it happen. I used a battery charger and left it in for 3 or 4 hours. I had my doubts but...
That turned out really nice.
If you get the chance try this out. It is fun to do and really neat to see the stuff bubble off the surface. I have tried it with good results on a Arisaka and K98

The Stabilizer was historic as was Mr. Bills.
Maybe they are trying to slow Purdue from expanding into the neighborhoods? All the houses with character were replaced by apts years ago.
