Used to be the law you had to stop here due to the extreme conditions but I but I don't think it is anymore. But I stop everytime, accidents or breakdowns, and always will. Of course gun laws up here are a little looser and I always have protection in case its not a true breakdown.
I have had two 61's a mag and regular 22, two 572's, one trombone, and a 12. The trombone and the 61's are great but for the money its hard to beat the 572.
My son was confirmed having it on Thursday but we caught it early and it looks like he will be fine. I think I had it first from a short hospital stay but I have been on so many drugs I haven't noticed much another than a fever.
For a first cheaper lever I would go for a Ruger 96. I have one in 44 and in 22 mag and the have the smoothest shortest throw of all the levers I have tried.
If you seat your bullets deeper you should be ok on the mag. 300's are about as big as you can get in there and not all factory loads will work. Federal 300's work in mine, but as you found out the evolutions are the ticket anyway. Good luck.
I've shot the 44 evolutions out of about every type 44 rifle (788,77/44,99/44, 96/44, ruger carbine, and the 1894) and have had excellent results on paper up to 200 yards. I even took the 77/44 sheep hunting due to its light weight. No sheep so no results.
