      Bought a CZ P-09

As far as backstraps go... how long are your fingers? I have 5 vienna sausages attached to a can of star kist, so I always use the thinnest backstrap and it's especially important for me with a DA/SA pistol. The thin one on my P-07 still leaves plenty of area for my support hand to contact the...

Short review of kytex magazine pouch

I can confirm. I ordered 2 and both did exactly the same thing Poppy described, though I didn't bother to contact Kytex about it.

Gift for a newly minted Marine

My impression is that K-Bar's aren't what they used to be, but I may be wrong? At any rate, the blade appears to be too long... at least till he gets to his permanent duty station. I think I'd go the ESEE route for a fixed blade; he can buy his on K-Bar if he wants one. Maybe a smaller ZT folder.

I avoided that, and he's smarter than me... ;-)

Gift for a newly minted Marine

I gave him Crayolas at his going away party, and he's more of a truck kinda guy... and I guess a tat is preferable to the stretched earlobe thing?

Gift for a newly minted Marine

I got him and his brother Leatherman Waves for Christmas last year, otherwise I'd be all over that!

Gift for a newly minted Marine

My understanding is that after his leave he will go directly to 29 Palms to the Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School to become an 0621/06xx (not sure how that works, but my brother says he's going to be a field radio operator) where he could be in limbo as well, so point taken about the...

Gift for a newly minted Marine

My nephew is done with Parris Island on 12/14 and I'd like to get him a gift. Having been in the Army, I'm pretty certain he'll be limited in the things he can carry/wear in the USMC. I'm guessing a quality flashlight or a knife would be acceptable to most chains of command... in the pocket if...

      Pocket Gun Show -N- Tell

My two pocket-ish guns. The Kimber Solo has been very, very reliable and is my wife's EDC. The Kahr PM45 is used by me as a ... pocket gun. I'm looking forward to trying/buying a Sig 365, but I'm going to wait a little while longer till I'm sure there are no more kinks.

      Larue MBT Triggers $99

I have 6-7 AR's with SSA-E's and one with a LaRue MBT. I will be buying MBT's from now on unless the price gets to within a few dollars of the SSA-E.

      Too many Suppressor choices!

My perspective... I have 2 suppressors, an AAC SDN-6 and a Thompson Machine ISIS-2 in 45acp. While I don't regret buying them, unlike many/most NFDA aficionados, I doubt I'll get any additional cans. That said, here's why suppressors don't get me all excited (anymore). I got the .30 SDN-6 to...

      Paint removal from a AR-10

Why not use a pressure washer? I've never tried it, but that's always been my plan if I wanted to strip a painted AR. Am I missing something obvious?

      Bump helmet

Home made. I took the female QD sling "cup" off of a Magpul stock, added a washer to the OEM shroud bolt and... The elastic shock cord takes the last bit of wiggle out of the system An unexpected benefit is that it also works on the rare occasion when the PVS-14 is mounted on a carbine.

      CZ 75 For Carry?

I carry an SP-01 Tactical (decocker) quite often, and the weight DEMANDS a good belt. Volund G-Hook belts (Home page) work very well for me. I carry IWB in a horsehide Crossbreed, but they seem to have started using thinner Kydex lately. For the occasional OWB I use a Tucker Gun Leather HF1 and...

      Bump helmet

Yeah, they are. I got mine on sale from Botach for the price of the non-carbon fiber one. If not for that sale I would have never sprung for C.F. FWIW, Botach shipped it in a timely manner, which isn't always the case.

      Bump helmet

I have a Team Wendy Exfil bump that supports my PVS-14, no complaints other than their company's political leanings. Good airflow and the ratchet system for sizing is excellent. Mine's the carbon fiber version and it's very light... definitely requires a ballast with NODs, I use one that uses a...
