I would clean the stock the best you can unless you do not care about ruining the value of your gun. I took a Yugo M48 and sanded it down then polyurethaned it. I completely destroyed any value the gun had but it looks great.
I don't think a single punch to the face would make pulling your gun a feasible option. Now if the person was one of those crazy black friday shoppers that you see on youtube having fist fights and it is getting out of hand then maybe.
The last time I was at the BWW on the north side of Fort Wayne it took over 40 minutes to get 12 wings and they were not very busy. Now that I know they do not allow weapons on the property I will try and not go there anymore.
There are a lot of different options out there for a nice 45 acp. I helped a friend recently with pick out a 45 and all i can say is go with what you like the look and feel of and not what others say. Getting something and then later regretting what you purchased is a horrible feeling.

I can tell you from my current job in transportation that there is a slow shift to changing those signs but the cost to replace all of them is massive and would require a lot of taxpayers money.
I would have to agree that a sling on a home defense shotgun might not make that much sense. If anything the sling might get in the way if you are in a hurry to get to a ready position with the gun.
I recently helped my brother buy a regular size Mossberg 500 and his wife got a youth Mossberg 500. The difference in that model is that both the barrel and stock are shorter on the youth.
I would imagine that if a safety course was forced on people there would be fewer people with guns. By this I mean that only those who really want and respect a firearm would go through then class.
