I used to get 2025 out of an Encore 50 with three 777 pellets (150 gr) and a 300 gr XTP before going exclusively centerfire. ML's were just too much trouble IMO. Kicked like a dayum mule, too LOL
Per Qload instructions, have you weighed the max amount of water you can get in a fired but not resized case? To get this weight do not try and stop or guess when it's level with the case mouth, let it bulge up to the max it will hold. I need to check mine again but I think mine is right at 69.5 gr
Mossberg/Maverick HS-12: 18.5" O/U with choke tubes, lower front rail
Mossberg 500 18.5" cyl bore pump with pistol grip, vertical front grip
Mossberg 930 JM tactical 22" semi auto
KelTec KSG pump 18.5" cyl bore with strap pump helper
HS-12 and 930 have butt cuffs
500 has side saddle ammo holder...
Got to be careful here - notice I've got a really short necked case to get as much case volume out of the 1.8" length as possible. No guarantee this will work in your gun, my chamber is a one-off hand cut one and is likely different than yours. I've also got a long Weatherby-like free bore in...
Great! Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll be trying the grinder or cut-off wheel approach and then use some already short Hornady LE brass. Thanks again for the info!
I'm using the Alexander Arms (the inventors of this cartridge) 24" upper and have never had any feed, extraction, or cycling issues using the Hornady 120 and 123 gr. ammo using AA's Grendel mags. With the Giessele National Match match its one my most accurate rifles and was planning to use it...
I love Barnes for deer Bullets, they're all I use in my IN 35's.
You might look look at the Leverevolution 225 Ammo was well. I get 2700 fps in a 20" barreled Encore use the Hornady Leverevolution factory 460 S&W ammo. The Leverevolution is all I use in our 44 mag revolvers for deer as well...
Also, if you have a dot that is not "round" (a lot of the really cheap sights have weird shaped "dots"), it will be more difficult to shoot them with much precision.
I've also found some of the dot within a circle reticles to be good if f you can line up the outer circle with something on your...
It really depends on the dot size and the design of the target you're shooting at. If you're lucky enough to have a target that lets your center the dot with precision (like a circle bullseye that is just barely larger than your dog appears at that distance) shooting down to one MOA is very...
Jason - based on the tests our friend David White did with ballistic gelatin and my personal experience on a smaller doe at 95 yards, it does indeed look like the 140 FTX is topping out with the 357 Max at rifle velocities. I had it nearly take the off shoulder off the doe when it clipped the...
Excellent and informative reply, thank-you very much! The 358 Hoosier description on ammoguide.com says it's based on a WSM case but the info falls a bit short from my experience. Again, thanks for the reply!
Geez, adding even more to my confusion level LOL
Thanks for taking the time to reply!
My latest IN legal deer rifle is a Rem 700 converted to single shot that uses a 325 WSM parent caseopened up to 35 caliber that has a 0.225" long neck at the max 1.8" case length. Spits Barnes 180 gr TTSX...
I've got the same gun in stainless steel and with a dot sight throws the Leverlution factory loads into 1" or less groups at 50 yards.
I'd be very VERY interested in hearing more about 1.8" legal IN deer loads for it.....
That is the kind of starting load info I was after for a 140 gr in a 35x325WSM 1.8" round in a Rem 700. I'm not worried about the 140 FTX performance, I'll be trying out the Lehigh 140 gr. Penetrator that's a copper solid rated for up to 4000fps that destroys tissue like a HP. Doubt I'll get...
