Non-Hybrid Seeds
I think most preppers know this, but while we're talking about seeds...
An important part of a survival stockpile is non-hybrid seeds. The ordinary seeds which we buy at the local or big-box garden store are "hybrids". They have been developed by the company to produce one...
Ranger is doing everyone a favor by letting us know about the psychos who, by his admission, are only suppressed now because of the law. I think if he was really the "fittest" like he thinks he is, he'd pay more mind to OPSEC.
An isolated rural area with a few homes and acreage within eyesight of each other is the best. With acreage, food can be grown. With caring neighbors, defense can be collective. This was the successful model for early settlements in America.
Where are you getting your information to support your assertion that this only affects commercial fishing or "if you are turning around and selling your catch"?
Let me practice my psychic abilities:
I can tell that you are the type of person who wishes people understood you better. You'd like to have better relationships with the people in your life. You worry about things sometime, often money. I think next year will be a big one in your life...
I thought it an act of idiocy yesterday when I got a letter in the mail telling me that the census form would be coming out in a matter of weeks. If a person is going to blow off the census form itself, what good is a letter in advance going to do?
There is already legislation being pushed (might have passed already) which strengthens the FDA (the food police) and which would virtually shut down farmer's markets, for their lack of labeling, etc. Someday, you won't be able to take a bite which has not already been touched by the dirty...
I posted this on the Great Outdoors section, but the people here in the politics forum might be interested. (Sorry if I'm violating any rules by this duplication.)

I can't believe that Obama would do something this unpopular, but it's scary that it's even being discussed:

There are a lot of good canned things from stew to soup, etc. However, I think that survival food boils down to calories per dollar. A can of Treet (Kroger's version of Spam) goes for $0.99 and has 840 calories; by comparison, a can of beefaroni costs that much or more and has only 520...
Careful asking questions about laws here. A lot of well intentioned people might tell you what is accurate in their jurisdiction but inapplicable to yours. I think most of this will be local ordinance, as has been mentioned up above here. You should ask your county if their rules are on-line...
But, like I've been saying, if we're talking about what to do with your extra money (in my example, $100,000) AFTER you have your food, gold and silver are good choices. You wouldn't buy $100,000 worth of food.
Gold and silver have been valued by various societies for thousands of years, so...
To use this as an example, if a fellow has $100,000, it would simply take to much space for him to buy $100,000 worth of these things for use in future barter. If his concern is that the dollar may be worthless at some point, buying gold would be an efficient alternative for moving out of cash...
I think we all get it - in the case of absolute shtf, durable goods will be better than metals.
However, absolute shtf is only one scenario. There are many other scenarios in which, if a person has extra money AFTER getting the basics (food, ammo, etc.), gold or silver would come in handy...
I think it depends upon how much $ you have today. You can only store so much ammo, and a big downside to bartering with it is that it may come back to haunt you.
Once you have food, ammo and other supplies, there is nothing wrong with taking left over cash and converting it to precious...
According to the Bushcraft book I used to read as a kid, all you need is knowledge and a knife. A knife with a steel blade puts you thousands of years ahead of earliest man.
Probably the second thing would be a reusable fire starter - a lens of some type or, I prefer, the magnesium / flint...
The "police power" is the power of States (the federal government was not supposed to have this power) to regulate the health, welfare, safety and morals in that State. Regulating the insurance industry and prohibiting prostitution are examples of police powers.
Indiana's Constitutional...
