New Sidearm - Range report/Second guessing

Just thought I would throw in an update. The misses decided to go with a Kahr cw9. After putting a few through the ruger and going to my g17 she realized the "recoil" of the 9mm was nothing. The kahr isn't much worse than my full size, plus its only single stack so its much easier for her to...

      "accurizing" a bushmaster AR w/16"hbar?

I forgot to add that it has a threaded AK brake which drastically reduces what little recoil is there. I know that makes a difference especially with quick follow up shots

      "accurizing" a bushmaster AR w/16"hbar?

I was wondering if it would make much difference if I used a free float tube on this rifle? The barrel is the commercial style "hbar" being that it is thicker under the handguard rather than the military style hbar profile where it is slimmer under the handguard. IIRC I just don't know if...

      Westforths in Calumet township/gary(?)

a couple months ago i dropped in asking for used remington 870 20ga. The guy that was helping me went to the back room and came back with a decent express magnum and offered it for $140 after he replaced the follower and spring in the mag tube. I said he's got a deal. So he put my name and...

Thanks a lot for those two encouraging responses. I am not aware of the aftermarket for the lcr. What grip did your wife like?

New Sidearm - Range report/Second guessing

I bought a ruger LCR for my fiancee last Friday. After taking her to check out just about every handgun in the new and used market she chose the lcr. She liked the simplicity of a revolver and the light weight. She new getting into it that she would have to work harder at becoming proficient...

huh? Trying to apply for carry permit in Porter Co.

I called the sheriffs dept and the lady told me I had to go to the state police office in lowell to apply. State police looked at me like I was crazy. I remember having to go to he sheriffs dept with a few different money orders. Did something change or was that lady crazy?

protecting young ones from NBC attacks?

Fortunately, the Marines trained me pretty well including advanced training for NBC attacks as well as working in areas of a potential threat. Hope i never have to don my mopp gear ever again. I must not be fortunate as most considering that i dont have a designated "NBC safe room". Nor do i...

protecting young ones from NBC attacks?

Since I became a father in '09 this has been my biggest fear. I have the training to protect myself, but how do I protect my child? I've tried to do research on this, but all I find is protection for toddler age and up. Ya know, them expensive gimmicky bags that go over the child's upper body...

Figured I would make my official appearance. I like the forum pretty well. I've been a lurker off and for some time now. Glad to be aboard. As for my name, I need to fix it. Danielocean03 pmed me about it, but I cannot send pm's. Something about a security token. Its difficult doing all this...
