First your wrinkles could be either some residual oil in the mold, brake cleaner is something handy to clean them with.
Or the mold is not getting hot enough, you can either turnup the heat on the pot a little (approx 700 degrees is a good starting point)
Or cast at a faster pace...
Good possibility yes, I generally try to make Miami, Fairfield and Lynchburg matches.
Ive shot a couple indoor matches at Cincy Revolver club but its been a couple years.
Still hard at it, getting closer to master but not quite yet:dunno:
Good to see another Bullseye shooter here Strato.
I clean my Bullseye gun once a month, usually 3 matches and several practice sessions. 1000+ rounds if all goes well. 100% function, using Bullseye powder and old scrap lead home cast bullets.
I sure dont use Bullseye powder because its...
Yep remember what it was like when anyone started,, 1001 questions. A lot of stuff to soak in.... Heck I learned how to reload before Al invented the internet. And luckily I still got all my appendages ;)
The only bullet specific manuals are the ones that the bullet manufactures put out. For example Speer or Hornadys manuals will list specific data for their specific bullets.
Yes, either way. Its up to the individual.
For OAL in a semi auto youre limited to the magazine for max OAL, or what the chamber will accept.... and on something like a RN bullet you dont want to seat past where it starts to get round. Plus you have to settle on something that will feed if...
45 pro you have the right idea. Less OAL = higher pressure with everything else being equal. More OAL = less pressure. Its not as critical in 45acp, In 9mm and 40S&W with less volume and operating at higher pressure you need to be much more carefull.
Here is a good example, 3 different 45...
Dont worry about the cost, you can get much higher quality ammo by reloading, yes its less expensive as well.
Saving the money will get you into it, shooting better ammo will get you hooked
As you go up from min to max in a recommended range the pressure increases, velocity, and recoil increase accordingly.
Some calibers are a little more picky about a velocity sweet spot when accuracy is considered. 45acp is a little more forgiving
Lots of folks will recommend a starting...
Yes the starting load of Titegroup is a fine load for 230's (4.0gr)
As for between TG and Bullseye, I personally use Bullseye and love it. I go over 1000 rounds between cleanings with zero malfunctions in a Bullseye pistol.
There are a lot of things I look for in powder selection...
It does say the hardness, its the Brinell number, the 230's are 18 The 200gr target bullets are 12(softer)
You have to decide what you want, they have 230rn, 225 TC, 200swc, 185 swc.
The 185 and 200 loaded to 750-800 fps are real pleasant to shoot and usually real accurate.
Even...
Here you go, Missouri Bullet Company
If this is for 45acp and "target" velocities they sell some that are more suited for that with a 12 bhn alloy instead if the standard "hard" alloy
Really at 45 pressures the hard alloy is really too hard and the softer stuff will actually lead less, if at all
Lead bullets are less expensive and can really get to be a bargain if you enjoy casting.
Also a lot easier on your barrel ;)
With the right bullet fit and alloy you can do about anything this side of 3000fps with a lead bullet
Hey guys, Im the guys that make/sells the billiard ball handles. If youre interested in doing your own its a 5/8-18 thread on most of the reloading press's that have a thread on ball. There are a couple of odd ones. RCBS made some that were 1/2-13 threads, and of course Lee's wooden ball is...
