Most if not all of the target 22 stuff is subsonic. My guns always liked the CCI standard velocity.
The Aguilla I tried was a little less powerfull as in the gun wouldnt cycle as well as with the CCI standard.
22 ammo is real finicky and one gun can favor one type of ammo. By a few 50...
Thats normal, 9mm has a bit more taper than most handgun rounds and it gets sized in a "straight" die basicly.
The offset youre seeing is more than likely brass that varies in thickness slightly, start turning case necks and you wil really see it.
For 9mm or about any handgun round it...
I just had to buy the lid for the bucket on mine......
The motor is a chip auger motor out of a Machining center, its got a hell of a set of bearings in it, I dont think I could ever wear it out.
I got it because it was going to get thrown away, it was replaced because the keyway was...
Yep, not a stupid question at all. You need to feel 100% comfortabe with the gun you carry.
I carried an unloaded 1911 around the house, doing chores, mowing, whatever...cocked and locked, Till I felt confident with it..
The gun was fine, I just needed to see it for myself
Yep, cocked and locked, try it around the house with the gun unloaded (cocked and locked)
Dont put your finger on the trigger unless you want it to go BANG
Thats the same attitude that folks get with reloading, casting, heck even "shooting" and countless other "hobbies"
The fun is in the process, plus the fact that if you spend the money on 50K bullets and shoot them up then what have you got??
If you had bought the press/dies you could...
If you have a case chamfer tool a couple twists in the primer pocket will remove the crimp real well.
If you plan on doing a bunch the swager is the way to go
Folks have been doing that since the 40's as far as I know. There is a good bit of labor involved in just prepping the brass.
A good thourough cleaning is necessary to get the priming compound/residue out and any other dirt/crud of course.
Then it must be de-rimmed in one die, then annealed...
Im really considering doing a form 1 and building my own. There are some good designs out there that could be built for less than $100.00
Plus your $200.00 for the stamp of course
Pretty simple operation, good tool.
Case goes onto the rod at the left, that supports it from the inside, gets swung down horizontal, you move the handle down and that pushes the swage punch into the primer pocket, swaging it,
Swing the handle back up, pivot the case up, remove.
I...
I like making stuff so I made my own press, de-rimming die, core mold. I did buy the bullet dies from Richard Corbin.
These are all made from 22 cases, 22short, 38 grain 22lr 55 grain and 22 magnum 90 grain
It works great, swaging from 22lr cases. It can make sub 1" bullets without too much trouble.
The best way to get cases is to buy a 22cal firearm and a brick of ammo and have at it.
As long as commescial jackets are available from Berger I would probably just use those
Yes several guys over at cast boolits have home brewed shot makers. Basicly lead dripping down into some type of coolant. Some finess is needed if you get real picky about how round you want the shot to be.
WD40 wont cut it, and dont just expect it to burn off. You want the cavities clean, really squeaky clean.
The oil, or any residue wont allow the lead to fill out properly, and any gassing from the residue will create voids in the bullets.
It shouldnt take more than a second or so on each...
