      Experience with recoil reducing stocks?

It's more of a trap shooting set-up and usually cost more than most people's guns but there are some really nice systems like: Shotgun and Rifle Shooting Accessories and Recoil Reduction Precision Fit Stocks by Apogee Ordnance - Unsurpassed Gun Fit Mr. SpeedbumpStockworks These systems make for...

      Gun mishaps caught on video

I've never seen one split, but I have seen barrels that have some nice bulges and even one the peeled part of the barrel open. Had them set-up at a hunters ed course to demonstrate what resting your gun in terra firma will do for you...

      Need recommendations on a shotgun

Barry in IN and SamW has said pretty much everything. Ignore the bickering over the guys who say they can shoot skeet with a musket gun. As for your gun, go with a semi auto. For the money your wanting to spend, you can pick up a nice gun that allows you to make the doubles. Sure it can be done...

      AA Target vs. field loads???

Another thing to consider is the plastics used. Most cheaper shells will leave some amount of plastic build up in your barrel. I went cheap for a while when shooting trap/skeet and shot Remington Game Loads (black plastic hull). After a good 100 rounds you could see it building up in the ports...

      Serrated or not?

For field dressing a deer I would definitely go with a regular fixed blade. No need for serrations, unless your cutting bone, but that's a completely different type of serration (if you consider a hack saw serrated). I personally use a case leather hunter? (think that's what they are calling it)

      Serrated or not?

I voted serrated...I know the benefits of a good sharp knife, but there's a reason axes are replaced by chain saws. You get the best of both with a partially serrated knife. You can get that super fine edge to slice just about anything and then saw through what ever you cant slice with the...

      Got my first SOG

I wasn't too fond of my Flash II when I got it either, but I pack it every day now. Mine never really felt flimsy until I took it apart and ruined the teflon (I think that's what they are) washers in it. Now the blade isn't real tight, but it still functions great. Before that everything was...

      Opinion on Gerber knives, please

I'm a fan of their multi-tools. My father has got two now from work and I got his old one. He used it 5 days a week and its still in great condition. The wire cutters have a gap in them from trying to cut a nail I believe it was. My fault entirely. His new gerber actually has triangle cutters...

What are you a "hater" of? (related to guns)

Add another hater of the word shotty...while on the subject..tactical shot guns...I find them hideous... Tactical crap...tacticool and the mall nija type acessories/gear/clothing. Don't get me wrong, I own an Xd (5", which ironically enough is called the tactical model) and even a pocket knife...

      New guy from KY

I'm hoping I wont get run out of here for being a Kentuckian, because the forum really seems to be full of good info, reading in general and even spotted some nice deals in the classifieds. I have a some family in Indiana and always enjoyed my time there, but KY is home for me. I have been...

      Thoughts on new manufacturers

Same here...Sometimes it's difficult to judge the quality of something from its looks. I tend to let someone else be the guinea pig, and then if it turns out well for them follow suite. As for small pistols...this doesn't look much different than a ruger LCP which could probably be had for a...

      Used XD prices?

From what I've seen the XDm hasn't changed the price of used XDs much. This being based on the used gun listings found on XDtalk..I spend quite a bit of time over there, mainly because I own one. $500 seems like a good asking price, but would try to get the pistol for $450. Depends on the...
