My dad always told me stainless guns are for lazy people, or those who wanted to get shot first. ;). That being said, the looks of stainless are nice, but if price is concerned, blued are usually cheaper. When I picked up my 10/22 awhile back, I got a blued one for the sake of cost.
Currently attend Purdue and I haven't heard anything about the Armory closing the range down. It was closed for like a week a couple weeks back for maintenance in the Armory, but thats about it.
Got a Springfield XD 45 new out the door from Big R for 409. Apprently someone screwed up and they were selling guns way below MSRP, got it well under a 100 dollars off. Probably one of my favorite guns thus far
Brother has a Saiga 12, It is a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. Safety is a bit tight, but thats just because he doesn't shoot it often. Very easy to go through a lot of ammo with it if your shoulder can take it. If I wasn't in the process of buiding an AR, that would be my next purchase
Yea, 10/22s are getting a bit ridiculous price-wise. Unless I find a great deal like you did on a good used one, I may just pick myself up a Marlin 60 instead.
I ended up getting 2 complete AR lowers at the Tipton show. Always enjoyed the Tipton one and go when I can since I'm only about an hour from it. Didn't have the greatest deals this year though
Saw that the Walmart in Wabash has started selling long guns again as well. Personally would never buy one, but if you were just getting into guns it wouldn't be a bad place to start. I don't think I saw one over 300.
I can vouch for the ejector issues. Buddy of mine bought one awhile back and it was just such a hassle shooting his. It would fail to eject about every fifth round. Just aggravating to say the least. But of course he had a first gen, I think they fixed it on the new ones.
Most just target shooting/plinking for now since it's my first AR. Barrel length I'd like to keep in the 16-20'' range. I use my Mossberg and XD for home defense so I feel pretty safe there.
New to the forum but I figured this would be a good first post. I just picked up completed DPMS lower this past weekend for a decent price, I would like to know one's opinion on what upper I should use/get. I'm leaning towards carbine/mid-length as most of my shooting will be under 200yds...
