The national ordnance weapons were supposedly made with surplus parts using a cast receiver. They can be shot, but I'd recommend using garand safe ammunition (no hot modern loads). Get go/no gauges and check for headspace, as long it appropriately chambers on the go gauge and does not chamber... -

Thanks, it took a bunch of tries to make it what I like. The optic is really, cool, being formerly in the Marines I love ACOGs and a good BDC. The only thing I don't like however, its got kind of a tight eyebox and a little uncomfortable for my long arms. I may end up changing it out. -

Avoid most American made as much as possible. Standard advice is get a Wasr or Serbian Pap or the WBP Jack rifles. Atlantic Firearms also does fairly decent kit builds. Avoid the Century VSKA, Ras, or anything else they build (Wasr is imported by Century and thus, just fine). Basically...
