well that changes things. though what would be the difference if i were to just change the slide to an unmarked one? I'll have to call ISP about it I guess.
thanks guys, i knew there was better stuff out there, I just couldn't remember the names of them. now as for surface prep, the best I know of is using a sandblasted surface that's been degreased. the texture of the metal after blasting holds paint pretty darn well, so whatever stuff i use...
I've been thinking about having my RIA 1911 refinished in either cerakote or moly resin, and one of the things I thought about was how i didn't like the roll marks on the slide, or the marks on the dust cover, so i was thinking of filling them in with JBweld or something to that nature before...

I don't know if it's shiny enough for you, but Norrells Moly-Resin comes in a stainless steel color that replicates the look of glass beaded stainless. I've been considering having my 1911 frame done in this for a two tone look.
I don't think that all civilian glasses are quite as indestructable as BCG's, as thick as those frames were. I don't remember seeing a single broken pair in Basic. Saw a pair ducktaped to a private's head once, but never any broken ones.
I couldn't find a link, but it has been done. It was called the explorer II pistol. the barrel was not interchangable between the rifle and pistol receivers to keep it NFA approved.
Went there today with some friends. For those who don't know its in Military Park in downtown Indy, with this being the 14th one. I had a blast. Stuffed myself with shepards pie, bread pudding, fish and chips, and washed it all down with a cold glass of Smithwicks. anyone else go today or...
Hell my mom used to throw thick wooden drink coasters at my dad when she was pissed. we didn't have drink coasters in the house again until after they got divorced:D
