      I’m trying a DNZ one piece base. These were steel rings but cant recall the brand. I think my problem was less than quality base. All the screws were good and the lugs were all the way forward.

      I just picked up a newer Marlin 336 (sigh, not JM) but am excited to deer hunt with it this year. Opted for a 2-7 power Nikon scope and zeroed just an inch high at 50 yds. Thanks for this thread.... good input on here
