Interesting articles, thanks, I had no idea. Maybe the fact that we were not speeding (and thus appearing to be too careful) was reason enough to raise suspicion and get them to stretch their interpretation of some subjective traffic violations ("too close"). The fact they didn't even issue a...
Thanks, good idea about sharing the ammo. Also, I appreciate the shopping list. This will be my first build. Maybe I'll put together the lower for around $300-$400 then save up another $500 for the upper.
I've got a bunch of 9mm ammo that doesn't play nice with my handguns. I also have a stripped RRA lower. Does it seem practical to build a 9mm AR-15 while only spending around $500? I understand that 9mm is generally considered a pistol caliber and not optimal for a rifle. Just trying to figure...
Flew out to Los Angeles on a one way ticket to retrieve a buddy who fell on bad times and needed help getting himself, his dog, and some suitcases back to Indiana. Picked up a rental car and took turns driving on Interstate 40. I was napping and woke up to find we were being pulled over. My...
I enjoyed this off-topic quote from the online comment's in the Bloomington Herald Times newspaper:
"[we] live in a geographically constrained society ruled by laws collateralized by the state's monopoly of violence"
I spent the day last Saturday driving from Bloomington and attending the DPG Utah Permit course. I enjoyed it and found it to be valuable, in addition to enabling me to apply for my Utah permit.
The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. They handled audience questions gracefully and...
hmmmmm, "reloading" the batteries. Interesting idea. My bedroom is on the upper floor, so I could probably wire up a rooftop mounted solar panel. Maybe someday.
I discovered years ago that when I am asleep and dreaming, if I need cash, I can always pull some out of my pocket. Recently, I now seem to always have a handgun at my disposal. Fortunately, I have not had to use it, yet, but nice to know it is there.
Can't say I agree with "HAVE THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT [...] THOSE THAT CANT OR DONT HAVE THE MEANS OR ABILITY TO PROTECT THEMSELVES "
I believe Indiana law gives us the right to assist, but not the responsibility. Seems that would be a full time job.
I did learn something interesting in...
My bedside gun safe has an electronic lock and depends on batteries to get it open (though it does have a backup key).
I keep the key to my larger gun safe in the bedside safe.
My flashlight depends on batteries. The laser sight on my revolver requires batteries. The cell phone to call 911...
I just purchased CT for my LCR and have not yet had a chance to fire it. Thanks for the links to the CT website videos-- makes me feel much better about spending so much for them.
I bought the crimson trace laser for my LCR. Loving the laser portion so far. The grip oesn't seem to have the same amount of padding nor ergonomics, so I'm wondering how that will affect the recoil. Also got some cheaper aluminum 38 special ammo.
I appreciate all the comment. I've placed a bid on a Egyptian Helwan 9mm that a knowledgeable local thought might fire the ammo. That won't ever be my every day carry so I'm willing to chance it. If that doesn't work out I'll probably try to sell the whole lot.
