Just trying to learn as much as possible...if these targets aren’t cratered and remain flat, what’s the danger? This stuff is pretty thick and has laughed at the 9mm I’ve thrown at it so far. Anything I’m missing?
Thats the downside to the free targets...this range is off limits to rifle. As time and resources come, I’ll likely add ar500 targets further down range.
I obtained some old steel targets from a friend. He’d shot up and cratered the reverse sides with rifle. It’s 1/2-5/8” mild steel. I thought it could be repurposed for limited handgun and rimfire use. The sides now facing the shooter are smooth. After drilling some holes for chains and...
I’ve managed to acquire some mild steel targets that have been shot up and cratered with center fire rifle on one side. I’ve flipped them over, mounted new chain, and will soon hang them for their next life as a light handgun shooting gallery. I know they’re not ar500, but the thin stuff here is...
We bought a well maintained, used Ranger for similar purposes as you described. We’ve had it for a couple years now, and it’s served us well. Typical stuff has needed occasional attention. No big deal, as parts are plenty. Knowing what I know about side by sides after owning one for a while...
I recently started using them for plinking and practice. They’re as good as any I’ve used in the past. They’ll be my new go-to, as they’re priced competitively and locally made. Good stuff as far as I’m concerned.
I’ve really enjoyed pursuing this thread and seeing everyone’s setups. Pretty impressive. I’ve had a chance to catch up on some upgrades to my bench, most notably additional lighting and finally repurposing our old kitchen cabinets. I’ve been in operating rooms with worse lighting.
From what I see, the DSG “boycott” caused DSG to pivot away from firearms and perhaps double down on ball stuff. Based on up thread post, this worked for Dicks. Did the boycott work? I guess the answer lies in how you define success. My LGS might say that was a win. At the same time, DSG managed...
I also just worked up a 9mm load with these bullets, at 3.9g TG. I’m shooting out of a sig. I’m going for as light as will cycle the gun, not so worried about max velocity. So far, I really like these.
He’s already asking when we can shoot again. We just went through the safe picking out toys to play with later this week. His top picks in order:
1. shoot rest of his 38spl reloads (H&R handi rifle)
2. 10/22
3. mark IV
4. model 24 .22 short
5. maybe the AR (his words)
Quarantine ain’t so bad!
