I thought the same as you at one point. The amount of effort and economics to build a blind that wasn’t portable didn’t trump a portable pop up blind. I use several different size pop up ground blinds. When properly staked down, they stay in place for the duration of the season. I have a couple...
I use a tripod fashioned together with 3 14’ 2x4’s with a small block and tackle hanging from the top. I use it for both field dressing, hanging, and boning out the meat. Once you’ve field dressed one while hanging you’ll refuse to do another on the ground. The block and tackle makes it super...
I tap the whole thing (Dillon) while upside down with my wedding ring hand. Work the slide a few times with a gentle tap or two from the wedding ring and all the powder usually falls out.
I’ll try to actually answer your questions:
1. Most of us have gone through several different makes and models to come to a conclusion. I’ve heard people mention a couple hundred rounds to feel confident about reliability, what's your take on that?
Depends on the gun. My G23 has a long term...
Son has a Barnett Recruit and I shoot a Tenpoint Titan. I love my TP, but for the money, the Barnett shoots exactly the same. If I had to do it again, I’d probably go Barnett. That said, the integrated cocking string is awesome on my TP. We both shoot G5’s. Devastating to turkeys. I don’t deer...
Gun falling out of holster while swapping mags? How? The whole point is not to remove the gun from holster. Not even a little bit. I’ve never had a person swap mags on a holstered firearm sweep me with the muzzle. When I do this, the gun doesn’t come loose. I’m not seeing any problem.
On another note, closure of the BC might mean my last stop there. They pretty much stopped selling reloading stuff, too. I needed four pretty basic items that weren’t there. Add on a long drive to Noblesville and it looks like an end of our relationship.
My eye caught one of these at a lgs this afternoon. I thought it was some broken gun. It’s a real thing I guess. No real interest, just wondering if anyone has experience with one. It really doesn’t look much more concealable than a regular Glock. Interesting.
If I had choice to hand dip powder for a 550 or buy factory ammo, I’d buy factory ammo every time. It would be like driving a Ferrari with a moped engine. Just no fun. Given your situation, I’d feel really good about buying a 380 conversion for the 550 and going to town reloading. They’re cheap...
I’m at 1500 and change though my 365. Most were 100g reloads with vey short oal’s. Only 1 ftf and that might have been me thumbing the slide. Also, 2 fail to fire, but those were 380’s that snuck into the 9mm reloading. I do now hate 380.
