Rem 700 .308 base and rings question

If you're good with a picatinny base, EGW is hard to beat. They make 0 MOA and 20 MOA bases. I've used them on Savage rifles and have been very pleased with them.

      Bobcat Season?

Sorry, I'll try to tone it down. But it's not like it also wasn't coming from the other direction. My apologies to those I've offended. That was not my intent...

      Bobcat Season?

Got it. Can't have an opinion based on number of threads. I disagree with having an open season on bobcats and now am a pariah...

      Bobcat Season?

I have zero issues with someone keeping a cat they accidentally trapped. I do have issues opening a season on something that doesn't need to be hunted or managed. Are you good with hunting bald eagles and hawks since they're no longer endangered? They're killing all of my rabbits that I...

      Bobcat Season?

Wut?? Reporting me for name calling after you called me obtuse? You really just can't make this stuff up...

      Bobcat Season?

In one breath you're saying we have to manage them so they don't get wiped out. In another breath you're saying land owners shouldn't have to follow nuisance permit laws. So if there is an open season and the landowner has an issue outside of that season, then all bets should be off on...

      Bobcat Season?

I'm not even sure what your argument is at this point? Why wouldn't Indiana want to protect the population and not allow an open season on bobcats? There's already a mechanism to apply for a nuisance license if a property owner is having an issue. Secondarily, what's the actual necessity of...

      Bobcat Season?

I see you're selectively quoting from my post, which also said: "The only thing that needs to be managed are humans, who do more to impact wildlife than any other species." My argument is that the number of bobcats don't need to be managed down. We don't need a hunting season. We don't need a...

      Bobcat Season?

I'm saying bobcats don't need to be managed because they're part of the ecosystem, have been for centuries, and they're doing no considerable damage to other wildlife numbers, including wild turkeys. The only thing that needs to be managed are humans, who do more to impact wildlife than any...

      Bobcat Season?

Wild turkey harvest numbers are up significantly the past 5 years. But yeah, go ahead and discount what I'm saying... https://www.in.gov/dnr/fish-and-wildlife/hunting-and-trapping/wild-turkey-hunting-biology-and-management/wild-turkey-spring-harvest-data/

      Bobcat Season?

Its relevant because bobcats aren't really an issue in Indiana. They don't need to be managed, especially by idiots in the Indiana legislature that forced the INDNR to do something because their constituents are panicking about seeing bobcats on their trail cameras. And then trying to...

      Bobcat Season?

Could be coyotes. Could be lack of does in the area. Could be bobcats. You and your neighbor may not be shooting does. But doesn't mean others in your area aren't...

      Bobcat Season?

The reason your deer herd is low is because of anterless deer license quotas for each county were set WAY too high for a couple of decades. It has nothing to do with predators. I hunt in Crawford county where the bonus anterless quotas were insane for years. Over the past 5 years I've seen...

      Bobcat Season?

Bobcats are native to the area. They're not new here. Humans nearly wiped them out like they did other predators because of ignorance.

      Bobcat Season?

The population isn't large enough that it needs to be managed by humans. I live in Southern Indiana. I have both bobcats and plenty of turkeys on my property. At this point, I'm not sure I understand the need to have an open hunting season on them other than people wanting a trophy...

Review: Squid Tries the Savage Model 25 .223 Rem

I had a Savage Model 93 in .17 HMR. It was an excellent, purpose built rifle for rimfire magnum cartridges. I've also owned several Savage 10/110 rifles. They're very well made for the money. And easy to customize. IMHO, Savage products are highly underrated in a world of shiny new toys.

      First Precision Rifle

Looked at their website. Pretty cool product. They take Rem700 compatible stocks and bottom metal and Savage 110 scope bases. You can get a basic, non spiraled version for about $1,300.
