AK's are "cheap" or "junk" compared to AR's

AR's are cheap as well. Just as the AK was designed to cut production costs to a minimum, so was the AR. Most military rifles are designed with the cost of construction playing a major role in their design and probability of being adopted. The AR is very "cheaply" made, especially rack grade...

      Range Time - Cory?

People will find any little thing they possibly can and blow it way out of proportion for no other reason than jealousy. They hate that Cory is successful and they can't stand that they're not. It's immature BS. i know Cory personally and call him a friend. He has never lied to me and he's...

AK's are "cheap" or "junk" compared to AR's

I have a WASR 10 that shoots surprisingly well, but not as well as the SAM7SF. The WASR's are good guns, and they clean up nice.

AK's are "cheap" or "junk" compared to AR's

My recent video about the new Arsenal SAM7SF rifle brought out the typical "AK's are cheap junk" comments both in the video comments and on forums where the video was shared. I've never understood the mentality that a $1500 AK that's made to a high degree of quality is bad while a $1500 AR made...

9mm Critical Duty barrier penetration test

i didn't take your comment as being critical. I wish it didn't take 2 blocks for a test... That would leave me with quite a bit more flexibility if I had 4 to shoot at each session.

9mm Critical Duty barrier penetration test

It was impressive, only it was 90% temporary which is of limited value. If you watch the round hit you can see the temp wound cavity slowly appear.

Stacking your mags - alternating rounds in your magazine

Darn it, and I thought it was brilliant! :D

Stacking your mags - alternating rounds in your magazine

I've seen a lot of discussion around the subject of "stacking" mags, or alternating the type of rounds in your magazine. In my recent ballistic test videos I've seen a large number of comments from viewers who recommend this practice thinking it gives them an advantage. I figured it was time to...

9mm Critical Duty barrier penetration test

The gel is $129 per block. Right now I have 4 blocks. To recycle them it takes 22 hours of work. About 2 hours to cut, clean and prep the block. 4 hours to melt it down (checking temp every 30 min). 4 hours to cure it to work the bubbles out. 12 hours to cool, then a lot of cussing...

9mm Critical Duty barrier penetration test

I've been carrying Critical Duty 9mm ammo for a while now because of its claimed superior performance in barrier penetration. I decided to see if it lived up to the lofty performance claims I've read about online. One article in Shooting Illustrated claimed the 9mm Critical Duty round could...

Is .380 powerful enough for defensive carry?

I've seen a lot of discussions about .380 and how effective it is as a defensive cartridge. I decided to do some testing of the .380 to see how both hollow points and ball rounds penetrated in 10% gel. I also compared it to my favorite 9mm carry load, Critical Duty...

High quality and affordable - EAA SAR B6P 9mm

Update. I originally only tried my older CZ75B mags with the B6P which have a single locking cut in them. They didn't work. The newer CZ75B/SP-01 mags with dual locking cuts will seat, lock and apparently work in the B6P.

High quality and affordable - EAA SAR B6P 9mm

I totally agree. That coupled with the fact mine only shipped with one magazine and that really kind of sucks. I'll have to check into buying some spare mags, hopefully they're not $49 each.

High quality and affordable - EAA SAR B6P 9mm

Many of my viewers/readers have asked me to look into low cost alternatives to the big brand names in defensive handguns. I've been looking into this for a couple of months and I think I've settled on a solid performer to recommend you give consideration to. SAR B6P 9mm Pistol | The Bang...

      A story of self defense

Matt, who writes for my blog, was involved in a self defense shooting a few years ago. The anniversary of the event is approaching and he wanted to share his experience with us. I'm glad he did. I think there are some lessons in his story for many of us, even though Matt is a Sheriff and this...

      A graphic safety reminder

I didn't say he double charged a .223/5.56 case. He was shooting factory/re-manufacturered ammo so it wasn't a reloading issue, at least not on his part. My comment about double charging a round when we become lax was a general statement and double charges or over charges are possible with a...
