Yeah churchmouse, I now exactly what you mean. Every once in a while you might get lucky but generally NOT.
As I said in my first post "I might be looking for something that does not exist"
Thanks guys
Thanks Nate for the heads up on the Weaver, I had already seen it, good price too.
I was looking for advice on CHEAP scopes as I do not have much experience with cheap scopes.
There is a bench on every one of my firing lines and most of my rifles have bipods.
Don't feel bad about not having as...
Well Nate, I took your advice and downloaded some different targets and hopefully I will get a chance to try them out tomorrow.
I am also going to go onto some benchrest sites and tell them they don't need those old 36x scopes they are using. Maybe one of them will then sell it to me.:):
I have a 1-4x on a light wt. ar with a Krieger barrel that will keep 3/4" groups at 100. I have a 6.5x55 that will hold 3/4" at 150 yds with a Burris 4.5-14x. I also have several vipers 6.5-20 and 6-24, Sightron 6.5-25, and a Leopold fixed 24x. What I was hoping for was someone that had a cheapo...
I am looking for the cheapest 36x scope that will hold zero. I have good glass on my rifles but I am looking for a fixed power 36x to take shooter error out of load development. It does not have to do the box or have super clear glass but must hold zero. I zero at 150 yards. I plan on putting it...
I opened 2 boxes of Speer bullets that I have had for at least 20 years and the foam that they had on top of the bullets had turned to c##p.
It took a long time to clean them up.
So if you have any really old unopened bullets check them out and get rid of the foam.
Hey Ammomanaaron, let us know how that turns out. I passed on those years ago when they were cheap because of that.
I would love to know how they shoot with a good handload.
Hi Guys
Anybody have some data for 6mmBR with WW748 ? All I have is 1 load in the Hornady manual.
Mostly looking for lighter bullet varmint loads. Savage 12 with 8 twist.
I would like to know the rules or whatever also. I don't know any ranges that have that yardage but it sure sounds like fun.
I have a swiss,a mauser 98 and a swede that I would love to try.
It has been a quite a few years ago that I got mine at Walmart or K-mart for $99 with orig cleaning kit and 20 rds of reloadable ammo. I still have it.
Well Clay Pigeon, you and I must be close to the same age. I have been at it for about 50 years, and if you ever told me I was going to spend this much time, money, and effort into loading so few rounds, I would have told you NO WAY ! But, things change, Now getting all rds. into the same hole...
I might be getting a benchrest rifle in 6 ppc that needs the necks turned to .262 anyway so turning will be a must no matter what.
I will want 200 to 300 cases for it as I am going to use it on a PD trip so I need to cut the cost down on the cases.
Hi guys,
The 220 Russian, 22ppc, 6mm ppc and 7.62x39 are all the same case, right ?
So, can you just run a 7.62x39 into a 6mm ppc die and have a lot cheaper case?
The Norma 7.62x39 is 30 cents cheaper than the 6mm per case !
My old eyes just do not do irons like they used to. So I shoot more with scopes these days.
I will post some pics maybe next time I take it out.
The chamber on it is a little larger than my other Swedes so I will have to keep my brass separate. I only neck size if I can help it.
All my Swedes...
I have a weakness for military rifles and mausers for sure.
So I come across Bubba's 6.5 M96 and the good news is it has a vg bore, full length wood and metal, all matching #.
Bad news, drilled and tapped and bolt handle bent.
I was telling myself not to buy it, but I did not listen.
Anyway, I...
