      $500 vs $2500 AR-15

I try not to judge people by whatever gun they buy, but an AR-15 is a tool that can be used for many different things. I've bought more AR-15's from cheapo's to expensive than I can remember and generally speaking you do get what you pay for. Your average guy who owns an AR-15 usually just...

      Chest Rigs for concealment?

I can't speak to anything other than the hill people runners kit bag, but I can say I'm very happy with it. https://hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/1/ProductID/2 I bought it for carrying while backpacking. My backpacks have hip belts, around the waist so that's an issue for IWB or...

Pictures of the great outdoors thread.

If my wife finds out where this is then I'm in trouble. Looks awesome.

      A heads up on prep’s

I agree, I've got medical kits in both vehicles, at work, at home bigger kit for family car camping, and then long term storage. Yesterday I found a crack in the foundation of my preps. In hindsight it seems so obvious, but still a big fat fail.

My medical prep fail last night.

Last night my daughter got a cut on her leg. It was more than a scratch and less than requires stitches, which is where the butterfly bandages come into play. I dumped a big tote of all kinds of medical stuff on my ping pong table last night covering half of it spread out and sure enough, I...

      A heads up on prep’s

So the timing of my post on this couldn't have been more perfect for me. Last night my daughter got a cut on her leg. It was more than a scratch and less than requires stitches, which is where the butterfly bandages come into play. I dumped a big tote of all kinds of medical stuff on my ping...

      A heads up on prep’s

Reality is you'll need some "thing" or service, outside of your capabilities within 365. Maybe it's a dentist, maybe it's medicine, maybe it's food because all your jars fell off the shelf during an earthquake. Regardless, there's always going to be something, but if a SHTF situation happens...

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

I got a chance over the weekend to handle a Winchester 70 Featherweight at a Cabelas and I was impressed. The action was fairly smooth, the rifle was light and the wood was beautiful.

Rifle reciprocity and transporting through different states.

I like to use the USCCA handgun reciprocity map to double check any recent changes in state laws before leaving on any roadtrips that cross state lines. I have one such event coming up within a week and it got me double checking. I'm good on the handgun, but I usually keep an AR15 broken down...

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

I should also mention, I'm strongly considering a Henry Ranger in this but it's the only non-bolt action I'd add to this list. I like that slogan "Made in America or not at all", on top of them being a beautiful rifle.

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

I'd still like to add a falling block to my herd, and I just wish my break open had an ejector, not an extractor.

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

I do like the single shot concept and my first two deer were taken with a Thompson Center Encore in 30-06. I really do like that gun, but it's stainless and synthetic so not that same walnut look and feel. I've thought about updating it with threading the barrel and I could swap out stocks to...

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

I think the Timber series is all walnut.

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

I know the timber doesn't have a threaded barrel. The Bergara Ridge does, but it's not the same walnut stock. For what I'm looking for, I'm good with a flush fit, or hinged floorplate as I wouldn't want a mag digging into my back while hiking up and down hills.

Where are most of our bolt action rifles made?

Lately I've been really wishing I had a good old fashioned bolt action 30-06 in a walnut stock. Something elmer fudd would be proud to own and pass down. Something that will get some dings and handling marks in a beautiful walnut stock. Seems to me like if I'm going for something like that I...

      The Prepper Deals Thread

I was about to buy a pile of these before realizing they are a knock off of the North American Rescue CAT tourniquet. There's a time and place to save money and I'm not betting on a knock off when it tourniquet time.

What have you done this week to prep? PART II

I agree 100%. It takes a little humility to recognize it, but I made sure my butt was back in the gym this morning.

What have you done this week to prep? PART II

Over the weekend I spent some time developing a load for my bolt action 308. I'm not 100% happy with where I ended up, but it's something. This morning, I got a much need wake up call that was a big hit to my pride and ego. I went to the gym for the first time in a long and time and it turns...

      A heads up on prep’s

I'm more than a little jealous reading through this. Our garden has never produced enough to need to be concerned about canning. We're just not that good at it, or spend the time on it. We're planning to tear out our eye sore next spring with a tractor and return it to a yard. Do any of you...

      Greetings from Alaska

I don't really enjoy shooting a 12ga just because of recoil, but I bought a 590A1 for protection for my future trips to Alaska. I figure I can keep the tube full of slugs, and a couple of bird shot shells for small game in a pocket if that opportunity comes up. Your cabin up there looks like a...
